Egg Nog History

The history of Egg Nog dates back almost two centuries. It has only been since 1932, though, that egg nog drinks have been widely commercially available for purchase.

Egg Nog is an American drink with English ancestors. The word Egg Nog is English in derivation but it appears to have come into our language during the American Colonial period. Nog comes from the word Noggin, meaning a small drinking vessel with an upright handle.
